Joe at Advantage Tutoring in Memphis really helped 2 of our children to increase their grades. Joe started tutoring our daughter in Geometry and Chemistry. At the end of the quarter her grade went from a 74 in Geometry to a 92 and a 65 in Chemistry to a 88! We were absolutely thrilled with the results. Our other child was having trouble in Pre-Algebra and History. Again Joe helped our son to increase his grades in class. Our son actually LIKES math now! My daughter was in 9th grade taking Algebra I at a very difficult private school. She had a 71 average which was a D at this school. She had never done this bad in math before and we were quite upset. She would cry when doing her homework and neither I nor my husband could help her with the math. I've had tutors since I was in the third grade.  I have always struggle with school, especially math classes.  Negative numbers just never made sense to me and I didn't get what "x" was so I was lost after the end of 6th grade.  I barely passed 7th, and 8th grade math.  Pretty much the teachers were nice and helped my grade with extra credit.  I met with a math tutor who was a school teacher and had a PhD in math Monday through Friday two hours a day.  After the first semester of 9th grade I had a 60 which was an F at my school.    My parents and I were really upset. I even had to go see the doctor because of the stress.  My mom and I spent alot of time crying.

My mom was on the phone talking about everything to my aunt who lives in Germantown, TN.  She told my mom about a tutor they had used to help my cousin get ready for the ACT and he had done really well.  My aunt gave the number to my mom and that is when we started working with Joseph.  I thought doing online tutoring would be really weird, but after the first session I could tell everything was going to be okay.  In the first session I had learned what a negative number was and what "x" was!  I could even add and subtract negative numbers with out a calculator which I pretty much could never do.  That was in 2008.  I finished the year in Prealgebra with a 75 which was a C- at my school.  Since I made a 90 the second semester I won the most improved student in my math class!  The next year I worked with Joseph on Algebra, which I got a 93 in!  As I type this I am finishing this year with Geometry which I currently have a 96 in.  Over the summer I we are going to work on ACT test preparation so I can take it in September and get it out of the way.  

I don't even know where to start with how much Joseph has helped me in math.  He explains things really simply.  He is really helpful about explaining the vocabulary which makes class and the directions make way more sense.  Also Joseph has given me great study skills and test taking skills that have helped me in other classes like my AP World History class.  Actually I probably spend about 30% of my time with Joseph working on other subjects like AP World History and Chemistry.  Currently I have a 3.6 G.P.A.!  Basically Joseph is the bomb.com when it comes to tutors.  I should know since my parents and I have no idea how many tutors I have gone through.

I first met with Joe after my first test in Geometry was an F!  My friend in class who made a B+ on the test told me she was meeting with him.  I was absolutely mortified because I had made an A in every math class in my life, including Honors Algebra in 8th grade.  At this point I was completely lost in Geometry class and couldn't understand what the teacher was talking about even though I wrote down EVERYTHING she put on the board and said!  I tried to meet with the teacher after class, but as during class I couldn't understand what she was saying even though she was really sweet.  Joseph explained Geometry in a way I could understand.  After each lesson we covered I couldn't believe how easy Geometry really was!  I would come confused to tutoring sessions and would leave with clarity and understanding. 

Joe is the smartest person I have ever met in my life, but he is very humble.  He is really funny and personable.  He always told me how the material we covered was used in the real world which made it seem I was learning something useful.  For the next 2 years he tutored me in Algebra II, Precalculus, and ACT preparation.  There is no way in the world I would have down as well if it wasn't for Joe's assistance.  By the time I made it to my math class as a senior the class was a total breeze!  If you are having trouble in your class, Joe is THE MAN to call.

Hi,

I worked with Joe last year for two months to get prepared for the ACT.  I was the valedictorian of my class with a perfect 6.0 G.P.A.  I was taking several A.P. classes so it is higher than a 4.0.  Yet I made a 17 on the ACT.  This ACT score was keeping me from most of the scholarships I wanted.  My G.P.A. was fine, but my ACT was horrible!  I had taken the ACT five times already and only improved two points!  I thought it was hopeless.

I told my mom that we had to find someone that could help us.  She searched on the internet and found Joe!  After meeting with Joe for two one and half hour sessions I took a real past ACT test. My overall score had improved by two points!!!!!  I was happy to say the least.  I even cried when I compiled the score and immediately called Joe!  He was happy, but he told me that we weren't done yet preparing for the ACT.  At the end of two months of working with Joe I made a 23 on the ACT!  

I qualified for the scholarship I wanted to Christian Brothers University which pays for all my tuition, my books, dorm, and gave me money to live on.  I am so grateful for Joe coming into my life!  I am now a Biology major at CBU and hope to be a doctor. 
Joe is really smart.  He is a neuroscientist at University of Tennessee downtown and made a perfect score on the biology section of the MCAT.  He wouldn't tell me his ACT or SAT scores, but he said they were almost perfect scores.  He is very knowledgeable about the material covered on the ACT.  Most importantly he inspired me to do my best!  I could give no stronger recommendation to use Joe as a tutor.  He is also really funny and knowledgeable about many things such as college admissions, politics, history, and of course science.  :D

I had always been an A student all through out my classes until I hit Biochemistry at the University of Memphis. I had made an A in ALL my science classes and was FAILING Biochemistry. Without at least passing with a C- I wouldn't be able to go to the University of Tennessee to be a Pharmacist!  After tutoring with Joe at Advantage Tutoring for both semesters of Biochemistry, I came out with a B+ for the year!
